Rookie Progress Update
Hi Guys,
It's been a while since I posted a progress update on my 73 restoration. It's been ten months since I started the project and now have the chassis near completion, the motor rebuilt and the body work well underway.
I brought the motor home a few days ago and managed to get it into the chassis last night. Over the next few days I hope to fire it up and break in the cam. I'll be doing this with the old pipes so I don't damage the new ones, but I had to install the new pipes just to see them in place.
Once the motor has run in, I get back on the body work with the hopes of having it in primer and back on the chassis by the fall.
As this is my first corvette restoration I hope my work is up to par with the forum standards.
Here is a shot of the motor when I first removed it from the car:
Here is is after the rebuild:
Clutch & transmission installed:

End of a perfect day:

I'm running performer heads and intake. Internally, I have the stock bore with new speed pro domed forged pistons, new scat rods and a comp cam/hyd lifter set-up. Hopefully, I'm in the 350-400HP range.

Can anyone tell me if it's better to install the muffler and side pipe tubes now, or should I wait till the body is on?
I'ld like to hear the motor with and without the mufflers but I'm too excited to wait another 6 months.

Thanks for the complement. Completion is still several months and dollars away. I'll keep you guys posted as I move forward.
