Everything worked out and I now officially own a corvette! It's a 1980 L-82 with 55,000 miles, very good shape except for some misc. blemishes to the paint and interior. It runs good once it's warmed up, the previous owner says that the carb is brand new (i'm not so sure though), new distributor, and the exhaust is all brand new (it definetly is, i can tell just by looking at it). Completly stock. So where do I start? I'm thinking a good detailing is in order first, then:
1.Remove spare tire and carrier, throw can of fix a flat in cubby
2.change oil
3.flush coolant
4.replace all belts
5.spark plugs and wires
that's all i have so far off the top of my head. what main areas of maintenance should i be looking at first before i start blowing money on performance goodies? any good reads I should pick up? thanks guys!

Check your A arm and trailing arm bushings for cracks. Also you might want to check the brake caliper seals to see if they leak. That is all I can think of. I dont know how much you went over the car when you purchased, but a good book on c3's will give you a great check list to go over to make sure its road ready Oh and you will find some Bubba mods on your car as you go along
thanks dude, i'll look at those too. I need to add an air filter to my list. has anyone here done any modifications to their stock air cleaner to make it flow better? just curious, i need to keep mine smog legal at this point, plus i don't know if a drop base air cleaner would be all that much better for power as it looks like the stock intake is already set-up for cold air. I havn't actually been able to spend a ton of time under the hood yet though. that'll be for tomorrow.
