Wiring Problem - lights on with ignition
My running lights or parking lights come on when I turn the ignition key. I've had the car for 5 years, only put 3,500 mile on it and this issue just started.
I have a 1970 Corvette Stingray. The last wiring repair work that I did was removing a bad door switch. The push button switches that turn the interior lights on when the door is open were both bad, so I removed them, intending to replace them at a later date. Can this have caused my problem - seems highly unlikely - and that I should be looking somewhere else for a short. Since "pushed in" on the switch is off, I'm assuming that removed is the same thing? Did I create an open circut or is my lights on problem unrelated?
Any suggestions?

You are correct, door switch goes to ground when door is open so removing the wires is like closing the door (opens the switch). Headlight switch powers up the park lights. Could be bad. I'm sure someone else will chime in to confirm it or have other ideas.

It doesn't seem to change anything by doing the highly technical trouble shooting method of "jiggling the switch." 
With key off, the parking light swich seems to work fine. Out is on and in is off.
With the key on (prior to starting the car), the parking lights come on.
