There's a tool for this. Get the tool. Any other method of removal risks bending the trim.

Which trim is he talking about?

The trim attached to the wiper cover?
The previous owner painted that chrome to match the car, but he was missing the passenger side corner trim.
I am not sure how to proceed?
Should I remove the painted trim and have it rechromed? Can you?
Or paint the brand new piece the best I can to try and match?
May be tough since its on chrome.
Do "I" need that specal tool as well?

What windows?

My 78 windshield trim came off without a special tool. I had to take the side windows off and remove trim screws for the side windows. The rear window trim needs the special tool.

Take it easy with the plastic clips.
If they break you will need to take the rear glass out to replace them.

I am nowhere an expert on this, but I have replaced the rear window clips without removing the rear window. First if the window is still original it was installed with small plastic spacers to keep the window in the proper position, allowing for just enough clearance by trimming the plastic piece that locks the clip in place.

In the pic, am I looking at the underside of a piece of trim?

Yes the pic is of the rear window trim clip from the bottom side, on the top there is a plastic dowel that is pressed down to lock it into the place. I used a Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel and trimmed the bottom portion to make them fit without removing the window.

Who told you that?

I replaced several of my clips without removing the rear glass, just pop of the damage clip with a screwdriver and take a small punch and knock the broken pin through to expose the clip hole.

New clips just snap in place, very easy and I never removed my glass

Thanks, the pics really help.
Now, for the windshield trim. I've done windshields on other cars and the trim presses into a groove in the rubber. Is this so with a Vette too?
