Default HELP! Spark plug boots are burning!

I'm running a big-block with Hooker Competition headers. I'm using MSD wires, and am burning through the boots on #3 and #5 and shorting on the headers. I put asbestos boots on, wrapped them with header wrap (I can't get to the header to wrap it), but nothing is woeking.

Anyone else experience this? What's the cure?

Thanks

I use these high temp. protective boot/sleeves for tight places; mine are right against the header, and have not burned through for 3 years so far....

Thanks, I put those sleeves on too. They did not burn through, but the boots melted and shorted through the sleeves to the header.

I'll take that problem big block off your hands, my basically stock L-82 with headers doesn't burn through the plug boots, so you can have it in exchange. Sorry I couldn't give you a real answer.

I've got Jacobs wires with ceramic boots on my '72 Vette, 454 w/headers. No complaints so far. In fact I'm going to put another set of them on my stepside P/U with a 396 in it. The #5 boot is too close to the header, so the boot melted and shorts the spark to the header.
