I had a 71 convertible years ago. I was on my way up to the mountains for the weekend and began racing a motorcycle on a highway about two hours away from my house. I hit a stiff bump at 90+ and my leaf spring came apart. The main leaf cracked in half right through the hole for the bolt that connects it to the trailing arm. The back of the car dropped and I saw a shower of sparks out my rear view mirror from the spring hitting the ground.

It cost me $500 to have the car flat bedded back so I could replace the $100 spring. Could be worse!

I have a nearly new steel spring off my 79. It still has the manufactures label on it. It's in the FS section or PM me.

Try one of the fiberrglass monosprings from VB&P. I didn't have mine on long before I pulled my motor but it rode really nice. Much lighter than the steel too.

I'm going to try the one on the car, I'm low on cash and my tranny in my daily driver went out.
