I decided to follow the forums advice. I got my bumper cover back from the body shop before he painted it. I went this route ,due to upon removing the old cover I found some old body work on the left lower front fender that might have affected the fit of the cover. As it turns out it looks like the cover will fit fine right out of the box. Now I can procede. The suggestion of painting with the retainers installed is a good idea also. Installing the retainers stiffins the whole bumper before painting. With the retainers installed paint cracking should not be a problem during the installation process. Even though a flex adjent is added to the paint a forum member said that cracking could be a problem during the install.
During the removal, all the hardware came off easily. The removal was really a breeze. I thought it was going to be much worse. I think anyone with average mechanical skills could tackle this bumper project. As long as the hardware is not rusted too bad.
I have taken some pics during this process. I will post them when I finish.
When I replied to your other post, I had it in my head that you had a flexiglass, that is why I was shocked about not fitting it. Hope I didn't cause you any undue stress!:o
Yes Chuck, Please post pics!
My front bumper split right down the middle over the winter and I am thinking about replacing it soon so I could use all the info I can get.
Yes. I will get some of the pics up. I am at work now, so it won't be today. On my car, once it started cracking, more appeared. I was able to break off a piece with my fingers.

My rear bumper was coming off in chunks. I believe being sprayed w/ silicone for years was really hard on it. (by the previous owner). Don't use that stuff in or on your car.
