Default Pillar Post

I am doing a "lite" restor on my 71 coupe and have been working on the pillar post weatherstrip. I decided to replace the interior pillar moulding as well. I received my new set from Corvette America via Wilcox. Everything fits perfect except I can't get the nylon connectors to catch and hold is there any trick to this. I have pushed and pulled as hard as I can. I put a little paint on them to make sure they are touching, just won't grab. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Anyone found a trick to get the velcro to hold together?

Mine don't catch either, but the fit was good so I don't worry about it.

Mine fit pretty good also, but over time I don't want any sag. Must be a common problem, because nobody has an answer.
