Holley Fuel Regulator Question
When I power up my fuel pump, with the engine off, the fuel pressure on the regulated side of the regulator reads over 19 psi. (I have an Aeromotive SS #11203 pump- this appears to be the pump output pressure.) If the engine is off and no fuel is going into the carb, shouldn't the regulated fuel pressure be somewhere between 4 and 9 psi? I do plan on trying to adjust the regulator. It has a screw-in mechanism. I assume clockwise will reduce the regulated pressure.
(I thought I'd just ask for some info rather than experimenting with the regulator. I'm pretty apprehensious about working with the fuel system when the pump is running and I'm not anxious to just start trying to solve the problem by changing out hardware since I end up with gasoline puddles to contend with. )
