I agree with everyone else. Set up a dyno pull so you have a measurement of your starting point. Then, as you make major mods you can see how much impact they've had by dyno'ing the car again.
I asked for big shots and sarcastic AH's to please stay away from my thread. But I guess theres allways gonna be a guy who has to put me in my place...
Thanks for the brotherly kick in the ***.. Next time pass up my thread..
Sorry you consider me an AH, just having a little fun with you. I guess that I should have used the smiley vice the one so you know that I was just poking a little fun.
I remember reading an article where the "add up the claims" method of figuring HP was about as accurate as the "it feels like 400 HP" method. I have a 355 SBC that Desktop Dyno says puts out 410 HP. I would guess that it is more like 360 HP based on comparable builds in various magazines. Still, I don't make any claims since I haven't had it on a dyno. It just pulls hard and I am happy.
The only true way to get engine HP is to pull the engine and put it on a dyno. Even a chassis dyno can be inaccurate due driveline losses, different types of dynos, etc. Only if you can replicate conditions every time will the differences be truly valid.
Once again, sorry you think I am an AH. Just a little fellow Corvette owner ribbing.
This is how ricers add up HP. Parts are not necessarily cumulative. I have to say that 400 gross is probably about all you have.
You know what... Actually, now that I think of it your probably right, but I wouldn't say ricers are the only ones. I know some LSX owners are kind of the same way. Not ALL, but SOME..

I was just poking fun too. You didnt think I was serious did you?.
I wasnt making a claim, I was guessing and asking for info.
Ribbing sometimes translates as some guy who has self esteem issues taking it out on someone else. Sorry if I took it wrong..
