My '78 has 100, 200 and 280 with a mark between 100 and 200 that I guess would be 150 and another between 200 and 280 that marks the start of the red zone. The manual says the start of the red zone is 250.
I always THOUGHT it's 200 as the 78 gauge actually had the "200" specified instead of the "220" as on the 79 gauge. I'll have to look closely next time the 79s warmed up.

what is the temp at the line on the gauge between 100 and 220?????
My '69 has a gauge marked like this. The needle stays right on the line between the 100 and 220, so since I'm using a 180 t-stat, I'm assuming that's 180. The thing is, I'm running a 454 with the original small block radiator, and after hearing all the overheating horror stories, I fully expected this thing to run hot. Maybe it's more than 180, I don't know.
