Default 75 with 94 lt1/will my headers bolt up?

So I bought a '95 Caprice with the LT1 in it to use as a donor for the '75. Motor mounts will line up from research done so far. Will my headers line up as well? Would be great if I didn't have to change out my dual exhaust set-up.

Anything else that I will "get lucky" to have few changes for?

Round-port headers won't work on D-port heads. Quite a few header manufacturers offer D-port headers in the same style as the old round-ports for engine swaps. I know Speedway has D-port shorties. Alternatively, the stock LT1 exhaust manifolds have a 2.5" outlet if you grind off the catalytic converter flange.

Lt-1's are great engines, unsung heroes, just make sure you go through the opti-spark, change out the plug wires, and replace the temp sender before installing. I'd also look into maybe finding a six speed out of a camaro. It would also be neat to make a functional hood mounted air intake , like the '96 SS Camaro.

Thanks for the info. Guess I need to do more research. Didn't realize about the ports. Hmmm. Definitely gonna check the opti and other stuff. Have you done this swap? I would like to swap to a 5 or 6 speed but $ may be the deciding factor here. Would it be easier than going with the 4L60? Would it be pointless to bolt up to the th400 already in the car? Can that even be done?

My son had a '96 Camaro SS a few years back, 305 hp out of an LT-1. That motor was nice. I'd seriously be looking for a T-6 to put behind it, with a .50 overdrive 60 mph is like 1500 rpm. (same package you'd find in a late model C-4) The optispark has all the ignition stuff in front of the motor by the water pump. The plug wires run down and underneath and a super-pain to replace.

thunder racing makes a conversion kit to run the wires up and over the valve covers

The Chevy TH400 will mount to any chevrolet engine except for the LS engines. I'd personally stick the 4L60 in, if you want an automatic. I am sure the whole point of the LT1 is to have more fuel economy. The fuel injection of the LT1 will help, but your major factor in mileage is with the overdrive.

The LT1 is quite a bit more powerful than a lot of C3 engines...it's hard to argue with more power from the same displacement, while using less fuel.

Exactly!!

Now the question is whethor the 4L60 can be used reliably in an autocross 6-8 times a year?
