Default Holley 780 Rebuild

Has anyone sent their carb back to Holley for a complete rebuild--I have a 780 off my LT-1 and lately it has been nothing but problems. I had two local people try and I even looked over Lars stuff and tried myself with not a whole lot of success. It starts very very hard--if you pump the throttle even once it smells like gas and you have to wait about 20- minutes before trying again. The idle seems like it constantly changes--it idles at about 1200-1500 rpms--I adjust it down to about 850---then when I start it up again it drops to about 500 and barely runs---I thought my next try might be to go back to the original manufactuer---any thoughts???

Never sent one back to Holley but a few months ago I bought a rebuilt 780 off Ebay from a guy that is all he sells, rebuilt Holleys that is.
Never even had to adjust, it was perfect right out of the box.

Do you have any details, like price and the name of the guy? I have a 1970 Z-28 LT-1 engine with an undersized carb on it and would like to get a 780 Holley. Thanks
