It looks like I will have to replace or weld the rocker channels on my 82 project car. Right now I have a rolling steel rack for the body but it does not allow me to work on the channels because the channels are resting on the rack. Any Ideas on how to support the body when I am working on the channels? Will the floor pans hold the weight for a short period of time or do I need to do something else?
I am in the process of changing my rocker channels now, not a fun job but there will be a great sense of satisfaction when done.
My body is sitting on a wooden Body dolly and for the rocker channel replacement I ran 2 4x4 posts under the floor just inward of the seatbelt reinforcement. up front I ran a 2x4 from the dolly to under the hood hinge bracket and tied the 2 sides together with a 2x2 to support the nose so I could remove my rad support.
I have been crawling around inside the car and the doors open & close well so the floor does seem to support the weight.
Sorry for the crude construction but I'm hoping the body will be back on the chassis in a few weeks
