Default Winch hook up point

hi,
I may need to load my C3 onto flatbed which used winch and would like to know where the best location to hook the winch is.

I'd like to hear opinion from those who have done it too.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know how you would do it on an assembled car. Mine was disassembled when I put it up on the trailer. We winched through the center grill opening until the cable got close to the bottom of the opening. Set the parking brake and reattached the winch to the front supports near where they attach to the vacuum reservoir and brought it up the rest of the way. I think if you just winch from there from the beginning you would tear up the nose.

Its usually up to the flatbed driver.I have helped and watched. My guy uses a double hook that pulls from the center.Sometimes the hook goes in the holes in the frame forward of the rear wheels that was used for the sidepipes. The chains meet in the center just under the rear spring.Car goes up backwards. When the front wheels approach the flatbed we put a 4x4 there so the tire will go up and help the nose not drag the ground. No way you can do a flatbed nose first without some kind of ramps.

Thanks,
As you said, I noticed that rear crossmember of frame has 2 holes and I may be able to use it for winching.

In fact, that was the first thing came up in my mind, but doesn't winch wire hit the front spoiler because wire is a bit upward ?
Did you drive the frond tire up half the way on the tilted bed before hooking up the wire ?
I'd appreciate if you clarify it.

I beg to differ on the nose frontways. mine was done front first and with 4 x 4's...and i looked today they used the crossmember. And mine didnt hit the wire. Driver was very skilled he did a great job. I called a few AAA to make sure they have delt with a corvette before. It was painless...

Interesting--Your driver new what he was doing! His truck bed is "less" steep than the ones that come to my place. It looks like shorter rear tires and a shorter wheelbase which will lessen the angle of the bed.Did you notice if he put anything under the crossmember(lowering the cable)before attaching cable? I wish we had some trucks like that.I stand corrected it can be done.:o

No he didnt do anything special.. Not that i noticed.. The only thing special was the 2- 4 x 4 he had.. It was painless and cool to follow the car all the way home..I could have drove the 100 miles but i didnt have someone to go with me to get it at the time. So next bestt hing was AAA,,,,,,,=)
