StingRay Ray- No turning back
#41
Almost have the front end hinged. I'm pretty sure I'm going to change up the straight bodylines of the C2 and kind of blend them with the C3 bodylines. Hopefully the best of both worlds. Both are beautiful cars. I snapped a pic and couldn't resist rolling the wheels up to get an idea of what they will look like. I think they will turn out nice. I wasn't sure about the spinner but think they are definitely the way to go now that I see it.

I lowered the car and have started adding the rear arches on the fenderwells. Thought I would go ahead and share some pics. Hopefully I will get to start glassing this week. When I bought the rear end I didn't realize that the 67 had the center back up light. I'm deleting that and moving the gas filler hole forward about 2 5/8" to match the c3 gas tank.

Definitely going to follow this thread, did you decide which way you were going? I really liked this idea when you had the other thread!

Progress has been slow. I've had other home projects that are taking priority. Here are some update pics.
Am an idiot and did not realize that the 67 was the only year to have the back up light which I did not want. Glassed it in.
Had to move up the filler cap to match the stock tank. Also grafted in the 77 flip cap. Need to finish all this with some filler. and clean the glue off where I supported it so I could glass it in.
Tried the wheels on. I am happy with the wheels but need a larger diameter rear tire.
Will post more pics once I get more done.

That '67 backup light is a desirable option the other C-2's from '63-'66 wish they had on their cars. I would of left it on the car but thats just my opinion. What are you going to use for a backup light on your project?

Long time since I've updated. Been slow going. I have the flares I made roughed it. Cleaned up the gas tank filler. Filled the 67' backup light. I also had to modify the exhaust filler panel to match the c3 exhaust. Still need to work on it. I am permanently attaching the rear portion over the next couple of days then I will start on the sail panels. Sorry for the dust. Daylight is short in the evenings and I just wanted to snap a few progress pics.

I like that rear shot. Pretty cool. I look forward to more updates and seeing all the lines of the car come together.

you know, one of the problems with the3 C3, isthat I allways felt that the nose is too long,, that extra foot and a half can be trouble. this confirms that the C3 would look just as good, and IMHO more sporty/ shorter, with way less nose.
thought about putting C3 lights in the rear clip? might look cool and tie it together well. C.
