OT. 88' Chev PU fuel problem
Need some help. Had my 88' Chevy PU die on me. Started surging in cruise mode then quit totally. Pulled off the road and stopped. Then it started right up. Ran for 15 seconds and died again. Start up again run for 15 seconds then die. I didn't notice the whine of the fuel pump, but if the fuel pump is bad, I would think it wouldn't even start. Where to look? It is a 5 liter with TBI.

i can almost promise you that your ignition module inside the distributor has gone bad. mine did the same exact thing. but if you take it to autozone to test make sure they test it enough to get it hot or it will still show good.

this happened to a friend of mine with his 85 chevy. might be the filter on the fuel pump in the tank, if you have junk in the tank, it may be getting sucked up to the filter, and when stopped, it will clear out, then get sucked up again when started..Is your tank low on gas??

Tank is full, sock is new. I "restored" this truck a couple years ago and basically replaced or rebuilt everything. It sits most of the time as I only use it to go for shrubs for the wife. Only gone 500 miles in the past 2 years. What's the best way to check for fuel? Disconnect the fuel line at the throttle body and turn on the key so it pumps into a coffee can? I don't think there is a pressure tap anywhere.
