Default Door panels - need HELP!

I have been fighting with my Al Knoch door panels all weekend. Have a question. Here is the top of the inner door

Here is the lip on the new door panel

Does the lip go over those tabs, or snug up against from the back, leaving the felt to go over the tabs.

This thing doesn't fit worth a darn and I've tried about everything.

Help appreciated!

Hang the door panel tabs over the upper lip of the inner door first.

your door panels don't look right. If I remember correctly they should be concave shaped there, not flat. Maybe those are for a 80 to 82? How do they compare to the originals? If they don't look like an exact match, you got the wrong panels. When I put mine back on kast week, for the 3rd time, I would just hold the panel bottom out at about 30° and cover the lip into the slot, then caterlever the panel on. Easy. check the shape, you may have the wrong panels.

Got the AIM? Fit the top first; bottom of the panel will actually be out away from the door a little. With top in place, bottom will fit down over door lock and you'll be able to snug the panel up to the door.

Thanks everyone. I got the panels on, once the lip question was answered. I had to man- handle it in places to get it to fit though.

Appreciate the replies!

Great news...so you had the correct door panels after all.....but did you install them on the right car?

BD, not sure what you meant by that....the Al Knoch people told me they were having trouble with the door panel molds, so I wasn't sure if the problem was on my end or theirs. I got them on, but it was not a great fit.

Explain ??

I had to use a heat gun on mine to bring it around to fit the contour of the door. They were warped as bad as a 20 year old pressboard original.

I was joking only, but many have had the same problems with them fitting correctly. You seam to have found the trick and have then installed.
