Your car your decision, but I feel it looks unfinished and lacking detail with out the emblems. If you do put them back on, I'll vote for the crossflags over the medalion every time.
I'm absolutely going to take those huge medalion thingies off of my SA when it finally gets re-painted, but I believe I like the 68-72 crossed-flags better than nothing. I'm also looking at putting Stingray emblems, or maybe something custom, where the crossed-flags are on the side fenders to keep from ending up with too many of them, especially if it might upset anyone.
Look into the 77/79 flags. They should drop directly in place of the big 78 SA medallions.
