It's part of the Z06 event. I hope that I'm not the only non-Z06 vette there.
Jason, I won't be there, but I'm interested in your latest results, because you've put a lot of well thought out effort into your shark. Post up so we know how it goes.

Data is good. You can reconstruct and conclude the big things, but without data it starts getting pretty tough to decipher the fine details as you get really close to the limits, and you're left guessing a bit.
Beyond basic accelerometer and rpm logging channels, the big question is, are you looking more towards driver development info or tech diagnosis?
If you're looking beyond the G-tech / Passport level, I'd make sure the system you go with supports expansion to include steering wheel, throttle, brake and 4-corner ride height. Unless they've updated, Edelbrock's QuikData offerings seem to be geared pretty much to the strip, so they may not suit your needs. IMHO, should you happen to have the budget, Pi Research is the best there is, but Stack has some more affordable options.
It's pretty basic, just a tach. input at first w/ accelerometers and a GPS system. The system can be expanded to include a video camera and microphone along with other sensors as desired. I'm a little strapped for cash right now, so it seams like a good system to start with and build up as time goes on.
I'm busy on another project .... rebuilding my drag car's engine, so I have to take it easy for a while on the vette.
Just purchased the Vector FX2 and delivered today off of EBAY for 33.00 (what a steal).
Anyone used this yet and if so, how accurate vs. track results.
measures 0-60 times, 1/4 mile and g-force.
Thanks!
Sounds like its similar to the GForce I have. As long as you put the correct weight in, they are fairly accurate. I calculated a Mustang's HP on it, and it came within a few HP of the factory rating (assuming a 15% loss for a manual powertrain). If you compare the MPH vs. what you get at a 1/4 mile track, they will differ. Tracks use an average speed over the last portion of the track (not sure the length), and these types of units will give you the actual max. speed which will be slightly higher. Neither is wrong, just a different measurement.
I'm going to try out the Traqmate at the drag races next year to see if it works there as well. Don't see any reason it shouldn't. It differs from the other units because it uses accelerometers and GPS to measure distance, speed, acceleration, and doesn't require the vehicles weight.

I believe the drag strips now use a segment from 60' before to the finish line. In the past they used a 120' segment from 60' before to 60' beyond the line, but in order to "reduce" the top speeds given for the nitro classes it was reduced, probably over insurance.
