My co-worker told me of a Corvette convertible at a used car lot in town so I checked it out on Friday afternoon. He said it looked like the same year as mine. I was skeptical but I went to see it just the same. Turns out it was a '74 w/a four speed. Not a big block. The interior needed some work, engine compartment was a bit dirty and messed with, but it had A/C and looked pretty good overall. It was blue w/a black rag top. No hard top with it.
So I'm thinking that I can trade mine in on it and get the vert I always wanted. In it's present condition, I wouldn't have to put much cash with it. When I heard $22,000, I was crushed. At that price, there would be no negotiation and no vert in my garage.
If it's on a lot that means he paid $13K and would listen to all offers above that price. Don't give up.
Remember you are saving about a grand not having to have it shipped, so right there its already 21K
No hurry, for that price it sounds like it ain't going anyware soon. I've had a lot of fast cars in my life and you know what. They don't mean a whole heck of a lot, in the big picture. It's just something to do while we wait until we die. I know that didn't come out right but we are really just caretakers. And if it's ment for you to be the next caretaker of that Vette you will be.Just treat it better than anybody else did!!!Sorry, It's been rainning for 2 days, my wife is in Lake City Fla. and it's real quite around here.
No, I didn't even haggle. There's a guy on this Forum that lives about five miles from me that is looking for a C3, so hopefully he can get it. He considered buying mine and he knows what to look for and how to negotiate. I was thinking like one of the responders to my thread. Maybe a $14K car.
$15K sounds like more in the ball park for the selling price. That vette will collect dust on his lot in San Diego at his asking price. What dealer was it?
