Default 427 heads question.

What application would the #396297 heads off of a 427 be? I am pretty sure the motor is out of an Impala (69, I think). So are the heads correct?

See below for the correct numbers.

Are you sure that's the correct casting number? I can't find that number anywhere.

I can't find that number either...from any source...books and manuals or on-line.

Make sure you copied the casting number down correctly and also make sure it isn't an aftermarket head.

No wonder I can't find anything, I may have copied the number down wrong. I will check again on Friday and post results.

The block casting you give is for a 1969-1971 427-454 cubic inch Corvette, Chevelle, Impala, Monte Carlo.

For the cylinder heads, are you sure the numbers you're giving are correct? There is a casting number 3964290...it's for a 1970 454 cubic inch 390 hp Corvette, Impala, Chevelle and Monte Carlo (except LS6). They should be oval port.

That's the best information I can come up with for you.
