Default A grand...

Ok, so I was waxing nostalgic today and almost picked up a 1985 GTI for $500 (I had an '87 Jetta and LOVED that car!).

Then, I realized it would be more work than fun (not to mention $50 a month added to insurance).

So, I figure I'd toss some money at the '76. Given the state of affairs in the pics shown, how would you spend $500-1000 this week?

Thanks guys. The luggage rack is actually almost spotless now. The sugar cube trick and the dull side of tin foil trick worked wonder son the rust spots.

My wife hates the damn car! I mean, she loves how it looks, but she thinks she always smells like exhaust when she rides in it. No $hit! It's 30+ yrs. old and sits inches from the ground AND you're riding with the tops off...

Perhaps some side pipes. Perhaps I bank the money and add it to the "Paint my Vette" jar.

just remember at a stand still the side pipes may cause the exhaust smell your wife does not enjoy however if driven properly you'll never smell exhaust, for when you are going very fast the noise and smell just are no longer an issue.

and when she burns her leg on the sidepipes, she'll forget about the exhaust smell for awhile.

Buy a power antenna and a 76 front emblem, buy a few tanks of gas and some new rear tires.

Put the rest in your paintjob/bodywork fund.

Well, you can do a cam change and valve job for that and it will be a new car.
