Cambria did 140 mph last night. She got there quick too. Felt surprisingly stable. Could have kept going easily, next time I want to peg the speedometer at 160.

Good luck. What gear you running? I can only get 146 MPH out of the 63. 3.55 gear. 4 speed, @ 6200 RPM. Not real aerodynamic but the 327 pulled real hard over 5000 RPM.......................On the track.
My '71 is very stable and flys like an arrow below 80 mph, but passing a 100 mph is another story!! I feel there is no contact between wheels and ground .. and any slight steering touch will through the car aside!! Maybe thats because of the awful weight distributions of a stock BB, I dont know.
how can you guys trust these kind of cars in high speeds?? do you add any aerodynamic/suspension/steering parts/ before trying such speeds??
I was talking to a guy a couple of weeks ago and he told me that when he was going 150 his rear wheels were bouncing off the ground. Supposedly observed by someone following him. Could be the lack of aerodynamic design technology at the time these cars were designed.

I got you beat! Today I was doing way over that speed on the main straight every lap around the 3.8 miles I also was stomping on the brakes for the upcoming 45 mph turn.
63mako, I have 3.55 gears with a smaller tire. So effectively I have 3.76 gears. I did this in 4th gear, but I have a 6 speed. I probably should have been in 5th gear. I'm sure that my engine was spinning close to 7K. Lucky I didn't hit the rev limiter.
For every one else that is afraid to push their C3 past 100mph. I've been there, I understand that. With a 15" wheel, stock suspension and steering, my vette wasn't stable beyond 90mph.
But now, that I've lowered the vette... twice, tightened up the steering box, and gotten rid of the power assist, and put on some 19" wheels with 275 Nitto Z rated tires she is stable as can be.
Long time ago 1971 LT1 3.70 gears. tach showing 6500 in high gear
speedo bouncing at 140 and using both lanes of I87 in NY . What was I nuts? thing was acting like a bad airplane.
Toledo corvette club use to rent Mid ohio Raceway For the week end i did it a couple of times had a blast. when you get going that fast you hear something you dont normally hear The exhaust it scared the bejeebies out of me the first couple of 125 mph runs but then i got use to it then all I had to do is try to get the car to stop in a straight line cause at 125 the car just jumps the way you might have the wheel turned.FUN FUN FUN
