guys what would you estimate hours put into replacing the under dash harness... including removal of the upper and lower dash pads and replacing the entire dash harness????
I replaced the dash harness on my 71' and there's no way I could have done it in one day. The steering column has to come out, seats, PB console, gage console ,lower dash pad left/right, etc. Not a trivial job by any means. And then, you're going to find other parts that need to be replaced and you'll have to wait for everyones friend, the UPS guy/gal, to deliver them.
hey steve! your dash looks good compaired to mine! i bought my 76 like this and bubba has been at work! some of the bulb sockets need to be rewired but i cannot seem to find the repair pieces to rewire.the whole harness just costs toooo much! as most every thing else corvette.well, good luck!---john
It's tough enough to repair and reinstall all this stuff having taken it apart myself. I hate to think of taking delivery of a Vette with the dash already out and apart!
Some of the dash light sockets on my '74 were broken, defective or otherwise not working. Zip Corvette, a supporting vendor, carries the dash light socket. Part # L-502 ($3.95 ea.) will do the job for you. Beats the cost of a new wiring harness if it isn't needed! Page 121 in their latest catalog.
thanks steve! i will look into that for sure.i noticed your dash cap has a crease in it. was that done reinstalling it? i have heard that is a risk to take when reinstalling.i am getting mine recovered and wondering how hard it's going to be trying to put the pillar post covers back in.----john
