Default 1974 bumpers

I must replace my -74 vert both broken front and back bumpers. I have heard that there is on the market one piece fiberclass back bumpers with vertical center groove. So they look like stock 2 piece -74 back bumpers?

Do you know who are selling those 1 piece fiberclass back bumpers?

Many thanks in advance!

Here's something to think about. When I replaced the rear bumper on my 74 I toyed with the idea of going to a one piece fiberglas bumper instead of the stock looking two piece fiberglas bumper. I went with the two piece and I'm glad I did. It made it much easier to align the outer edges of the bumper since the split in the middle can be varied. You can make the split tight or loose depending on how the ends match up. If I had a one piece bumper that was slightly too narrow I would have had to do some fiberglass work to get it to fit correctly. I bought mine from Ecklers at the time and its stood up well for 15 years or more.

Thanks guys.

I appreciate vettfixr for your comments and experience. I was first thinking that one piece bumper is easier install, but never though about the alignment, I will definitely think again 2 piece bumper.

I assume you have fiberclass version? Are you happy with Ecklers quality?
Thanks,
Sam

I used the Teledo Pro front bumper from Wilcox. It didn't fit perfect but I was able to make it work without any additional glass work. Each car is a little different.

So far everything I've purchased from Ecklers in regard to the body has been outstanding. My front and rear bumpers fit well and have held up nicely over the years. Last year I replaced my hood with an L88 style from Ecklers and it fit just about perfect right out of the box. They are not the cheapest on some items but when you factor in the amount of labor and materials required to fit a panel that's not quite right the cost difference becomes non-existant.

One other item. You will see kits to mount the bumpers. They use short retainers instead of the long retainers used to mount urethane bumpers. I found that in the rear the short retainers work well because you have access to both sides of the bumper mounting flange. In the front however I found it easier to use the stock retainers since the headlights cause some problems in accessing the bumper from both sides. Others may have had different experiences but I ended up using the stock front mount and the fiberglass bumper retainers in the rear. Good luck.

What??? yo want one piece that takes away from the 74" But neways I orderd 74 rear two piece for my vette and they dont come with holes premade for the bumper and had a problem when I had a shop do the work for me they were lazy and instead of taking the time to drill and line the letters up straight in the holes they sawed the pegs off th back of the emblems and just glued them in. Well when it cam time for its weekly bath I accidently scrubbed one of the letters right off. Just A warning. Some people are lazy, and especially a body man its more money to be fast and lazy. So if you hve somebody eles do it for u make shure u tell them u want it done right the first time, not glued in.
