Default 1982 kick panels.....

I'm replacing the kick panels just to spruce up the inside; these are the originals but definitely showing age.

My question.......do the factory kick panels arrive carpeted? The panels I'm removing are carpeted but I'm beginning to think that the guy I bought this car from did that (whether knowingly or not) when the interior was re-carpeted. My new ones are painted camel to match interior. They actually look fine.

Thanks,
Mark

I don't believe the factory ever carpeted the kick panels.

Thanks. That will be good for two reasons........I don't have to cut carpet for it AND I'm done.

Looking a gift horse in the mouth......did they use standard interior screws to fasten it to the side? Standard, I mean the 3/4 or 7/8" stainless screws with the washer built in?

Hmm...yes they are standard threading just like all the other interior screws, but the few I have removed were anywhere from 1.5" to 2" long and they did all have the built on washer.

They went in the back of the kick panel toward where the firewall and side wall meet.

Thanks. I found some pictures of 80-82 interiors. Son of a gun, it looks like those years were carpeted. Oh well. They look good as is actually. I have some carpet and was planning on doing Vette projects this weekend.https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ies/yesnod.gif

Whoops, I totally missed that this was about a 80s C3. Sorry. Also confused, as I have seen many 80s C3s with no carpet and the ones I did see with it looked personal or custom.
