Default block number help

what exactly should the block number "match" if its the original engine on a car? I've never decoded one of these things because my car was owned by my dad since new and I never had to worry. But this is for a C2 and I have no idea how to match that number to something.

The block casted number on the rear can be looked up on www.mortec.com this shows what years a particular block casting was used and in which cars. On the front pad by the water pump passenger side there should be a ledge sticking out under the head that has the the letter code to ID which car it was intended to go in and another number should match the last 6 digits of the cars VIN plate number. I hope this helps some. I'm sure there are others more learned than I here that will chime in and fill in other info or correct me if I missed something.
