Default '76 Console Question

Hey Dudes,
I've been at it all day, am a little punchy & require a bit of assistance... I removed the 4 screws to the console, lifted it out of the way and revealed the retaining plate that is attached to the switch control via two screws. I was exploring the AC switch which I must replace soon. After exploration. I am now having some difficulty replacing/attaching the retaining plate and switch control. A monkey could do this, but I'm struggling. Li-ittle help please.

There are two tabs on the switch control- one on the left and one on tip (circled in green and white). Which goes on top- the tabs or the retaining plate? The green circle depicts the screw holes on the left, but how does the white circled control switch attach to the plate? I'm having a time re-assembling this little bitty project. Any photos available?

Many thanks,

Monkey Man

Ok. First thing you need to do is rotate the metal place 90 degrees to the right. Basically, the plate will flare out with the narrow part towards the parking brake and the wider part towards the gauges. The hole that is to the bottom right of the ac/heater control is where the green circle area goes. The hole just to the left of the green circle is where the white circle area goes. The ac/heater control sits on top of the plate.

Good luck,
Dino

My eternal gratitude Dino. I was at the point of mild insanity. I'll take a breather from this day of replacing my a/c compressor (successfully!), have a brew, catch some pigskin action, and tackle this tomorrow. Thanks again for your prompt help.

Thanks R.M. -Beware of Fireball and Buzzsaw-
Hey, this is bizarro: when I removed the console plate there were two businiss cards in there from some Avon lady. Ding-dong Avon calling...indeed!
