Default 700r4 crossmember

is it possible to use a 700r-4 crossmember from a 1982 corvette or other models as well?

I'm not quite sure what your question is. Is it possible to bolt an 82 crossmember into your 76? Sure if you are trying to bolt in a 700R4, but just remember, your crossmember has holes for a dual exhaust system, even if it doesn't have a dual exhaust. The 82 crossmember is designed for a 2-1-2 exhaust system. I just recently installed an aftermarket crossmember from Bowtie that holds my 700r4 and allows for a true dual exhaust underneath. So now I can drop the exhaust without dropping the crossmember.

i want to install a 700r-4 in my 1977 vette to replace my th350. rather than modifying my crossmember, will a crossmember from a 1982 vette bolt right on to mine?

No, it only works in a 79-82 and even then you are limited to single exhaust.

Bowtie must be busy because i cannot get them to reply. But does anyone know if this unit will work with a 4L60E? This is a hangup in my LT1 swap into my 81. thanks

You do not need a new crossmember, only this new trans. support bracket.

c69vete,

Is that bracket commercially available, or is it something that you fabricated?
