Default Man Decorating 101

Or ..."what to do with spare forged big block Corvette pistons".

What do you think of my 7 yr old's new curtain rod finials? I used some left over ceiling fan down rods and some pipe fittings for the curtain rods. The domed forgings give it that special "race car" look. My wife is sure to be thrilled when she sees that I have been helping with the decorating.

Next project - I need another set for my "Man Cave".

-Mark.

Lucky kid! Throw him in a go-kart and mold him into the next Michael Schumacher.

I love it! I think you just gave 100s if not 1000s of people a great idea!

I love it. Nice work. You should patent that idea real quick before someone else does and it shows up in Griots catalog for big money.

too. But I would face the top of the pistons out towards the center of the room or down towards the floor. Great idea!

Thanks for the compliments.

For those that might be interested in doing a set for your own living room (or Garage) the stock piston pin diameter is about .927" or so. It is very close to the same outside diameter as 3/4" pipe whick is just under 1" in outside diameter. You could pick up a 3/4" FPT tap to thread the pin bores. This would retain the pistons more securely. I considered using spirolocks but decided they would probably be overkill for this application.

I used the ceiling fan down rods because I had them laying around and they are already 3/4" pipe thread on the ends as purchased.

If it were not for the cool curtain rod I would ask for you to turn over your man card because you know what a finial is.

Nice job.
