Default Shift **** / handle

I would like to change the standard shift ball on my 71 to something a little bit larger or perhaps a T-Handle of some sort. Has anyone done this ? Pics would be great..

Thanks in advance

You can get a Hurst T-handle. Auto Zone and I'm sure others carry it. Mine has a hurst shifter with the T-handle. Here's a pic.

I had a T-Handle but found it cumbersome--it didn't feel as smooth and was less comfortable than the ball.

I cut the shifter down about 2 inches, bought some cue ***** and 7 *****, drilled and tapped the holes and put them on. Better feel and weight to them in my opinion and cheap should you want to change them out.

Thought about the cue ball but didnt know how it would drill and tap.
Maybe ill give that a try also. Did you put a threaded insert in it for strength or just drill and tap the ball itself ?

Just drill and tap....So far so good. I do have some long term concerns about how it will hold up but they are cheap if I need to replace it.

One of my vettes had a t-handle. I hated it, bought a black chrome ball from Ecklers. Nice and heavy. Great feel. Also, my Miata has a 7-ball. The color matches the car. Simply drilledwith drilll press and tapped. So far so good. Kinda cliche but I like it.
