bubba thy name is drywall screw
my 76's previous owner decided to try....and i stress try...getting creative with bondo and new glass....and filled the headlights and body seams....so i've been trying to dig the seams out, and get the front cover off....and tonight i succeeded, but only after i found what was holding the cover on.
the picture doesn't show it well...when i found the 1" drywall screw buried under the filler and into the urethane cover i just laughed and grabbed my screwgun and took it right out....but you can just make out the hole just above and to the left of the bandaid, just below where the body seam would be
Actually duct tape, or at least a VERY close cousin of it was used in C3s to close the gap from the factory in the ducting behind the center gauge cluster bezel.
In this pic the tape has been removed but that left over adhesive residue is from the factory tape that I removed and it looked exactly like the gray duct tape you buy at any local hardware store.

But your joke was funny either way.
