Most dealers installed the GM versions - I suppose it is possible for someone to buy a new Vette from a dealer who also sells aftermarket performance parts and have them installed - but I find this HIGHLY unlikely. Those Hookers are not dealer installed as they would never last 30 years of use. Just my GUESS.....
My guess would be that even if the dealer installed them, they would still be considered aftermarket parts. The stock version of the side pipes used stock exhaust manifolds and a single pipe to the sidepipe muflers. If you had these, an argument could be made. Otherwise, I'd suggest enjoying the better performance and sound and not worry about it.
If they were the ones installed at the dealer as a "dealer installed option", then most likely they would be the ones that have a GM Part number on them. The number can be found on the flange.
They are expensive if you find them. I sold a set on here a few months ago.
Hope that helps.
There were no RPO sidepipes on C3's except in 1969. A dealer could have added them or they could be an owner added modification.
The "Hooker style" side pipes that GM sold over the counter were manufactured by "Kustom" and they are somewhat different from the ones Hooker sells. The Kustom headers/sidepipes have GM part numbers that have the digits individualy stamped on them. They are not neatly spaced and lined up like a block stamping, they were done one digit at a time.
Are yours GM? They are not all that common to find these days.
