Awesome pic. Gonna say they are 1971 models. The colors I see are War Bonnet Yellow, Ontario Orange, Bridgehampton Blue, Brands Hatch Green, and Steel Cities Gray and the only year those colors were all available was 1971. Does the Green convertible on the top have one light up?
Can I please get the Museum delivery option on my new Vette ?
Those look like 71 Dodge Tradesman vans on the left rail car,
As a teenager I use to love late August early September when the new cars would start appearing on transporters it was a big event back then!...I miss those days
#2 on top appears to have a driver side light up also.
due to vandalism and etc., they don't ship new cars now a days on open carriers via rail.
that pic would made a grand wall-piece poster .
Actually, the main reason they quit shipping by rail is that the cars going out to the west coast were experiencing wheel bearing failure shortly after delivery. It was finally determined that "false brinelling" was the cause. Basically, the jarring motion from the train was pitting the raceway of the wheel bearings. By the time they arrived, failure had already begun. Upon a few hundred thousand revolutions...done.
FYI

I remember reading about that but since the same thing could also happen on a truck, what was the actual cure?
I had heard that failed bearing story too once but heard it was because the cars were shipped without full grease and they were not serviced until they were shown on the lot. They were transported with dry bearings and such and after the problems they greased them from the factory.
