When it comes time to painting my engine, what brand name of Chevy Orange color has provided the best results?
Sprayed or brushed?
Primer or direct to the metal?
Anyone try the POR engine enamel?
I'm rebuilding my '70 L46 and am using Hirsch Auto's "Chevy Orange." According to their web site, it isn't necessary to primer the cast iron parts. Also, check out their exhaust manifold paint. From what I've researched, their engine paint looks to be the best.
eastltd..........Cool headers. Are they Hooker ceramic?

I used the Hirsch Auto engine paints on both my '65 for the Chevy Orange and on my '78 with the Chevy Blue paint.
I was VERY happy with the paint and results on both.
As mentioned, Hirsch recommends NOT priming the iron block before using their paints although you do need to first prime the steel oil pan
this is the Hirsch Auto Chevy Orange on the '65
Here is the Hirsch Auto Chevy Blue on the '78 during motor reassembly

Nice work
If the 78 turns out as good as your 65 you'll have two show winners!
not only did i use the pro-15 ceramic eng paint on my eng but also did my frt end suspension w/it, brushed it on all parts n no brush marks. it looks like it's been powdercoated
