Kick Down switch Wiring TH400
I have removed the gas pedal, kick down switch and bracket along with the accelerator cable(about 2 hours what a pain)the car has AC with all the duct work hiding everything I checked the switch (VOM) and of course it didn't work, the contacts inside were burned away. Anyway, it didn't matter, the orange wire comming from the switch to the trans was cut off somewhere??, it goes into the wiring harness and I can't find where it exits the harness? Does it go directly from the switch to the trans? or does it go to a relay or something else? The wiring diagram in the manual shows it comes from the switch and connects to the transmission, does anyone know where it is supposed to exit the harness? I have searched for an hour and can't locate it. I can and will splice into the wire and put in a new wire but I would like to use the original wire, I don't want to splice into the orange wire at the switch.Another thing I found out with the K/D switch, the gas pedal would just touch the switch but not move it, when I disconnected the cable from the carb and pushed down on the pedal it moved the switch a good 1/2 to 3/4 inches,I have yet to figure that one out. I posted this bit of info because it appears a lot of people are having trouble with the switch being activated. Also, anyone know where I can get a NEW switch?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Suggest several things
1. Disconnect the wire on the trans and apply +12vdc from a source like the battery. If you hear the solenoid pick it is ok. If not replace or have it replaced.
2. Ohm the wire (believe it to be orange) from the trans to the kickdown switch to make sure it is not broken.
3. Put an ohm meter on the kickdown switch contacts and work the switch to see that it makes contact and is working.
If I remember the manual calls for the switch to make contact at about 3/4th's throttle. You can adjust as you see fit.
