Early or late car is easy, look at VIN, body build date. What you are really asking is for a given part do you need the early or late variation. That depends on what part you are talking about. Most cars will have a mix of early and late parts. Changes to parts happen throughout the production run. Some happen very early and some happen very late. The most accurate way to know what you need is to research the difference between the parts, see what is on your car, and order the correct replacement, assuming you are replacing the original part. The next best thing is to buy an NCRS technical information manual. It will give in detail how parts changed and give a vin range in which the changes occured.
