I just received a new pair of these in the mail the other day. How do I flare them onto the trailing arm? Note: The picture I am posting is before I removed the old cups from my trailing arm
I use a ballpeen hammer and a press. Use the ball end to swage the cup into position and then flip the hammer over and use the flat end to flatten down the swaged ends. Looks like factory when done.
I put a in the cup to hold it in position and to provide a surface to press against.
My bad writing, sorry. I used a deep socket through the hole and placed the cup on it.
Don't know what size hammer it was. I would say something with about a 3/4" - 1" ball on the peen size would do. The flat end has to be enough to cover the crushed sleeve to flatten it in one pressing.
It worked like a charm! the only thing i did different was I cut some iron pipe and plumbed together some pieces which could be placed in the arm and then ezpanded so it preesed the bottom of the cup tight against the trailing arm when it was in the press...results couldn't have been better!
