When I set up the rear bearings using the spindle setup tool, what type of oil should I be using? Does it matter what type of oil I use on the bearing when I set them up? I am going to be using mobil1 synthetic grease after the endplay is set.
If I understand correctly, this is how I should be setting up the bearings. Place the tip of the dial indicator on the end of the spindle tool ,depressing it a little and then tighten the magnetic base. Zero out the dial. Carefully push up the spindle tool from the bottom, making sure not to turn the bearings. Read the needle ofthe dial indicator and calculate what size shim is needed to get the beaings within specs. Is this correct?
Do I need to screw on the spindle nut half way and then place the tip of the dial indicator on the top of the nut? Or do I just place the dial indicator on the end of the spindle?
Nevermind, my mistake. Forget my last post, I don't know what I was thinking. Thanks for all of the help...I think I am set to go on rebuilding my rear bearings.
