Default Headlight staying on question

Hello all, I am new to the board. I have recently acquired an 80 and 76 vette. I was driving my 80 the other day and stopped at the station to get a pop before work. I shut the car off, then I shut the headlight switch off and the lights stayed on. I am sure it is probably an easy fix but I have not been around these cars long enough to name them yet. Another problem I have noticed is that my pass side turn signal works great. (dash, front, and rear) My drivers side has a front light with no rear, or dash light. Possible ground problem? Thanks for the help. I owned a 78 black on black vette about 10 years ago and wish I never sold it. Trying something new again......

Do you mean the lights just stayed up or do you mean that the actual bulbs stay lit when you turn them off at the switch.

If the bulbs stay lit it sounds like a bad switch or there is a short after the switch somewhere giving 12V to the lead into the headlight circuit.
