I was just curious how a modified C3 (upgraded shocks, tires, sway bar, etc. – no fancy multi-link suspensions) compare to more contemporary cars in standardized tests (skid pad, slalom). Anybody know?

It really depends on how far you go with modern style modifications. I can tell you that in stock form an average C3 handles about the same as a modern min-van believe it or not. Lateral skid pad numbers for old Vettes are not impressive, about .79 or so.

I've seen highly modded ones run faster than C6s or C5 Z06s in autocross (haven't seen a C6 Z06). But, that's not numbers like you're asking for...

With a full VBP suspension package and good tires I'd say .9-1.0 easily.

Well, i have no figures to through in but my modded '77 is capable of impressive runs in hillclimb street races against specialized cars...i only need a perfect tarmac, no wet or heavy humidity around and the proper dose of adrenaline...

here are two pics taken on an 'opening' of last 'Cortegada' race, first pic on a smooth fast bend, second on a very tricky and sharp bend taken at speed too, as you see the car bites the tarmac, has no or very little side pull and the front wheels are well positioned at the start of the bend with the rest of the car following with a proper trajectory...

In stock setup i would just fly out of the street in the fast bend of the first pic and i would much probably just go streight forward in the sharp bend if taken at the same speed of the pic...
