Default Vin Tag Rivet Question

Does anyone know if VIN tag rivets (on windshield post) are made of alum. or metal? Reason I ask is that I am about to have birdcage dipped in acid and tag will fall off in tank if rivets are made of alum. I tried using a magnet but I am still not sure because magnet is possibly grabbing tag or post.

Can you use the magnet on the back of the rivets where they pop through the birdcage? I have never had my dash out and don't know if they pop through or what. Can you scratch the rivets (on an inconspicuous location) easily with a screwdriver?

Why are you having it dipped? Have you considered having it blasted?

Steel rivets and steel vin plate, hope that helps..... state police would not be happy if they knew my tag was NOT on the windshield post!! hence the magnet test.
