Default My new donor car!!!! Yeah!

Hey guys, last night I picked up my new donor car for my '69 vert. It is a '98 T-Top Z28 Camaro. Man is it fast. I am going to do the LS1 swap and now I have the perfect setup! I was trying to get an LS1/T56 setup through eBay or craigslist or something, but couldn't find anything under $4200 + $500 shipping. I bought this Camaro for $4500 flat. Guy had to get rid of it. Has "18 MODA rims with BRAND NEW TIRES, engine is spotless, solobaric subs, and purrrrs like a kitten. I am soo excited. It is almost too nice to part out, but the '69 needs it.

Anyone need parts from a '98 Z28?

What color interior is it? I may have a buyer for the seats, center console, and seat belts.

Grey Leather. Driver seat has SMALL hole right in the bottom of the seat near the backsupport, but other than that, Interior is just dirty. I am going to clean it up today and see exactly what I am working with. This isn't a forsale thread yet. I was just excited about my new purchase. I am going to start parting it out next week, and will post a thread in the for sale section. And I live in Kansas so you will need to figure in shipping too. Thanks.

Send me a link to the for sale thread when you start it and please keep me at the top of the list for the seats, console, and seat belts. I know this isn't a for sale thread, I just want first crack.

Got pics of the donor car's motor and the '69 it's going in?

No, no pics yet, it has been dark ever since I got it. But I pulled it into the garage last night, and the engine is SPOTLESS. Paint is so so, but the real kicker is that someone tried to do that "NIGHTSHADES" spray on the headlights, but instead of coughing up the $15/can of the shades spray, they used black spray paint. Dumbasses. Now my visibablity is crap at night. Still looks like my headlights are on, but can't see anything from 15' on. I would send you the craigslist pictures, but he took it off already. Sorry. I will try and get pics up by tonight.

Your '69 will be one happy Vert with that LS1. My stuff is out of an '02 SS/Z28 with the exception of the LS6. Where do you live?

Couple posts up says I live in Kansas. But specifically, Olathe. I can't wait! I have the SS sidepipes already. I need to fab up the headers for the sidepipes, because noone makes SS sidepipes the mount up the the LS1, but by Monday I should have a rolling chassis. I need to blast the front rotors, put new bearings and seals in them so that I can mount my front tires. I got those new Nitto INVO's, they look sick! Pictures coming later!

I have pictures of the Camaro if someone would like to post them for me. Due to the Marine Corps network, I can't do it myself. They are from my camera phone, but they are pretty good considering. Anyone?

Here are the pics man, looks like a great donor motor. By the way, I can make you a really nice custom box for that sub if you want to work it into your Vette project.

Dang, due to the network, I can't even see the pics. All I see are red X's. Anyways, where does your box sit in the car? And is it fiberglass? I have been experimenting with that for a bit now. I made a single box that is glassed on 2 sides, looks pretty good. Good first project with glass/fleece. Do you have pictures of your setup?

For a C3 the best setup is the simplest one. A nice small box located off to one side of the storage compartment and the amp on the other side or rear wall of the storage area.

Nothing fancy.

About the material, I do not do fiberglass. I prefer wood, and in my opinion a wood enclosure will almost always sound better when you want a good solid place to mount a sub. In some cases where you WANT a custom looking enclosure then glass is a good way to go but I have limited glass experience.

Here's a simple box I built for a fellow member.

Nice find, that LS1 will be sweet between the '69s fenders.
To bad it's not a T/A, my son needs a rear bumper cover.

Rear seatbelts should sell for a seatbelt conversion. Charcoal or Tan belts?

It's kind of a shame to part out such a nice car. I think I'd be driving it! Here is my '02 donor.....gp

WOW palamesa, that was rough. I am hoping to partially cover the costs of the engine through the parting out of everything else salvageable. And since it isn't wrecked, or looking like that, I should be able to sell quite a bit off of it. Know what I mean?

That's why I mentioned those first when I said put me at the top of the list for those, as the rear seat belts from the later model Camaros because they are an easy replacement for the stock C3 seat belts.
