Best method to sell Vette ?
I am considering advertizing my 72 for sale. Not to you guys, as forum members ALREADY have a Vette. I don't have to sell it, but I am out of room and have too many projects and not enough time.
Both. I have had good luck selling on ebay.As long as you have really nice pictures, It really is a quick way of selling a car to a huge audience. The more exposure the car gets the quicker it will sell.
I would list it in the For Sale section here. I think most of us would rather buy from a fellow member than someone on Epay. Plus, it's free. It just takes a little time.
Good Luck
I think the best answer is all of the above. There's no reason that you can't advertise in more than one place. Your local Craigslist is good, as is the forum listing as they are both free. Why not?
I've had generally good luck on eBay, but that isn't universal. It'll get you in front of the largest audience and it'll sell fast but it also seems to attract the biggest idiots on the planet.

All good answers....I will put in the forum "for sale" section ... I have bought and sold parts, tools and etc....on Ebay with good results....but selling a car sorta scares me. Mostly good people on Ebay...but I would probably get a buyer with a personal check from Casa Blanca.
Posting it here is obvious... it's free. It also comes with the highest percentage of tire kickers vs buyers, but you only have to sell it once.
Ebay is the best bang for the buck. Yes, nitwits abound there as well, but in case you havent noticed, there isnt a way to sell anything that is nitwit-proof.
You get an enormous exposure for very little money and can easily sell after the auction listing. Ive had very good success buying and selling on ebay. The people who just take cheap shots at it ("epay, evilbay") don't know what they are talking about.
Check craigslist.com Its local by city. I've sold a bunch on that site.
Go look and type in corvette and you'll see.
I have had the best success if I really take a lot of time and write up a super nice description. Use your imagination and really pump it up (don't lie). I've seen too many ads that are only a few lines.
Take 4 nice pictures (four is the most you can post)
I also like Classic Car Trader. Its online and puts out a I think Monthly add sold in convience stores. Ebay is good to just make sure you do a cash deal.
Post it here for sure - it is free!! I sold my C5 to a forum member in two days. Next do the Ebay thing - it works well, but take LOTS of nice large digital pics. I recently sold my '34 Ford Coupe on Ebay - I also got my C3 from Ebay.
If you advertise locally, be sure that you mention:
a) If your married, bring the decision maker or a letter stating they have permission to Vette shop and are not wasting your time.
b) They are pre-approved for financing. 1% down will not get you financed for a collectors car.
c) They do have a quote for insurance and know what it will cost.
d) If they want to dicker price over the phone ....without even seeing it.....hangup!

Check your local stores or ask a local used car dealer about any popular local used car publications. My Cadillac dealer reminded me of a local publication called the Wheeler Deeler and I receive the most calls from that folks seeing my ad there over Autotrader, the newspaper / cars.com, or craigslist.
I think success on craigslist is very dependent on the location and type of car you're selling. List an old Mercedes diesel or a Volvo in Ann Arbor, Michigan and your phone will ring off the hook.
