Hey there Wild Men- Hope everyone's weekend was full of hats and hooters. I played with PORS-15 (photos next time).
Although I'm a stock-guy at heart, my hypocrisy extends itself and I'd like to replace the skogley-looking exhaust manifolds with some brilliant ceramic shorty headers (which look so-o cool, even the stock hardcores would begrudgingly agree with silent but collective head nods). Whomever among us has replaced these manifolds- take one step forward and identify your hardware. I put headers on my '66 and recall having to return the Hedmans for Hookers after realizing that the Heddy's wouldn't work- even after all that detail that Summit put me through. Either Summit or Jegs would be preference for retailers. Who's put headers on their
'76s and what brand/item #??
through all my experience of restoring cars both mine and customers, the best fitting brand of header is Hooker.Thats the brand I always reccomend. They tend to fit the best. You pay a little bit more and it is well worth it.
I bought ceramic coated long-tube hedman headers. I wish I had bought shorties. The long-tubes went on okay, but they are tight in some places, especially around the idler arm. I replaced idler recently and had to unbolt both header and exhaust to get to. New idler was a slightly different fit and I had to dimple header. They do look good!!!
The $89 Summit brand will go on your car in 15 mins with no denting bending or nothing.
I just took my passenger side one off today in 5 mins from the top!!!!!
