My 77 Corvette transmission leaks intermittently. It can go weeks without a single drop, then one day there will be a nice puddle on the floor. I have inspected the underside of the car and am unable to find the leak. Any ideas? the leak appears to be coming from the towards the front of the transmission near the passenger side.
Front pass side either the tv cable seal, or dipstick tube seal, or both
if it's an automatic. I just had to replace the dipstick tube o-ring seal on a 77. I have 100's of 0-rings in a kit lying around. Not one would fit the tube correctly. Ordered GM replacements, would only come in a pack of something like 12 or 20. Gotta love GM.
If The Transmission Fluid Get Below A Certain Level....On Mine The Transmission Pump Can Pick-Up Air, And Foam up On Acceleration....And Puke Fluid Back Out Of The Dipstick/Fill Tube. If I Do Not Keep The Fluid Topped Off...Then It will Puke Fluid On To My Exhaust Headers...Blue...Smoke....Trail ! Check Your Fill Tube To See If It Is Oily.
