Default 383 Stroker

I'm thinking about putting a GM 383 crate in my 82. I'm hoping to get a nice powerful but quite cruiser, something my wife and I can use for long trips across the country. But i'm mot dead yet and would still like to lace the whip to it occasionally. I'll have a Tremec 5 speed behind it.
Has anyone in the Forum done a swap like this? What kind of driveability will i have?

383`s make great hp and torque but to make it quite you will have to tame it down. So you may ask what you want more quite or neck snappin fun??? with a 5 speed behind it it will have great highway cruisability i have one in a chevelle with a 350 turbo and 3:73 gears that runs about 60-65 mph at 3000 or so rpms.

Mine's not a GMPP crate... built locally. This thing is a torque monster, and loves to revv right up. With the right exhaust you can quiet it right down. Streetability is excellent, especially if you put a 5 spd behind it.

I put a 383 crate in my 82. I kept the auto transmission. The car has a lot more get up and go, it's torque curve is much different too compared to the old Crossfire set up. I think it's a vast improvement, but probably not the silent cruiser it used to be!
