Default going for it this weekend

I finally got all of my new stainless hard brake lines in, distribution blocks and new hardware. I'll be doing it this coming weekend. I'm wondering though, I did try to see how hard it would be to get one of those bolts out that holds the clips in on the main rear brake line. It seemed like there was no room to use a wrench and a standard socket lip is too fat to fit between the body and the bolt head. Do i need to get a thin wall socket? or was I just not trying hard enough? I won't have time to mess with it until sat and i don't want to figure it out then. thanks guys!

no, but the line is corroded and needs to be replaced. i can access it all the way down and it's very visible. I just couldn't get a tool on the bolt head my first go around.

joehalford01 - you are talking about the bolt under/near the seat belt reinforcement for the lower retractor, right? With the body on?

I've done this already on my '75 and that one bolt is a real PITA. There are several posts on this, including me asking the question a couple of weeks ago. Do a search for brake lines and you should find it.

At the recommendation of many forum members I cut that clip, with the lines still in it. Use a rotary tool or chisel. Be careful, the fuel vapor return line is usually bundled with the brake line there and is usually the lower line closest to where you are cutting. You don't want to cut that line as it is much ‘less fun’ to replace than the brake line. Anyway, cut the clip under the seatbelt reinforcement, remove/undo the other bolts and then you can move the two lines freely. Move them away from the clip, flatten the clip down and then get your standard box wrench on the bolt to pull it out. When you put the lines back in, you likely won't even be able to get the clip back on the lines at that point, so just leave it off. Put all the other clips and bolts back in.

Got the bolt out and back in with a "thin" open end wrench. That is, after cutting the old clip as mentioned above.
