Default winter storage

Question: What are some of the ways you guys store your vehicle in a garage that sometimes gets mice. I fear that they might get in the vehicle and nest. I have seen in the past they have brought bird seed in the engine compartment on top of the intake manifold. I check the vehicle through the winter but am going away this winter.
Thnaks in advance for any input.

put dryer sheets around on the inside. Set a trap or two underneath the car. Don't use poison unless you like fishing dead rodents out of tight places or wondering where that mystery smell is coming from

I recently had a couple mice in my garage and had the same concern about using poison in the garage but was told by NUMEROUS people that the little yellow box with poison in it was different. Apparently, if you set this in the garage somewhere and they eat it, they usually go off somewhere to die. That's to say they probably wouldn't be found in a tight space in your vehicle.

I've had one of these in my garage for quite a while now and no signs of mice at all. I guess this is to be taken with a grain of salt but wanted to share MY experience anyways. Good luck!

I remember last spring my friend pulled his M5 out of storage, and after letting it warm up for a while, we noticed a strange "rattling" sound coming from the exhaust. When he revved it up, a bunch of acorns literally shot out of the tips. No sign of the acorn's owner, though.

Poison is the worst way to go out if you're the mouse (ya ya, wimpy, I know). Set some traps or go to the pound and get a cat. That'll take care of your mouse problem real fast.

and a few mothballs in the engine compartment to keep the critters away from the wiring (they seem to like spark plug wires).
If the car won't be started this winter, you may want to tape/rubber-band some baggies over the exhaust pipe ends.

Default Real Peppermint Oil

You can find it at any high end grocery store...put a cotton ball in a Solo plastic salad dish, soak it with the oil, and put one bowl on driver and one on passenger side floor. Then, use the dryer sheets inside the car, under the car, in the engine compartments, and one in each tailpipe. For the final fortress, moth ***** all around and under the car. This forcefield will keep the mice away within a 10 mile radius!! After having my hood insulation destroyed by the critters, I take all necessary precaustions. Good luck.
